Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response adequately addresses the task by summarizing the information presented in the graph. However, it lacks some depth, particularly in its analysis of the trends in the data over time. For instance, it mentions that the percentage of people holding licenses increases with adulthood, but more specific figures or comparisons for 2006 are missing, which affects clarity. A more comprehensive comparison between the age groups in 2006 is needed to enhance the task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The overall structure of the response is fairly coherent, with a clear introduction and overall statement. However, the transition from 1975 to 2006 is abrupt, as the section about 2006 is incomplete. To improve coherence, it would be beneficial to use linking phrases that explicitly indicate comparisons or trends, such as "In contrast" or "Similarly." This would better guide the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The lexical resource shows a reasonable range but also includes some inaccuracies. Phrases like "having licence" could be better expressed as "holding a license." The use of words such as "just above" is informal and could be replaced with "slightly higher than." Overall, there are missed opportunities for more varied vocabulary, which would enhance the academic tone of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

Grammatical range is fairly strong; the writer demonstrates an ability to form complex sentences. However, there are noticeable errors such as "people of 30-39 age group were highest in percentage," which should be "people in the 30-39 age group had the highest percentage." Sentence structures are generally correct, but minor grammatical issues detract from clarity and precision.

Overall feedback

Overall, this response shows an understanding of how to interpret data, but several areas need improvement. Focus on including complete comparisons for all years mentioned and ensure that transitions between different sections are smoother. Strengthening your vocabulary with more formal or precise terms can also enhance your academic tone. Additionally, pay attention to grammatical accuracy and refinement in sentence structures to prevent confusion. Practicing writing full responses with clear data insights will lead to significant improvement.
