Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the overall higher percentage of men holding licenses and the general trends across age groups. However, there are significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, you state that in 2006, both sexes displayed 'approximately the same amount of percentage', which contradicts the visual data showing a clear gap between men and women in most age brackets. Additionally, the claim that 'the older the people are the number decreases' is a broad over-generalization that ignores the specific peaks shown in the middle age groups. To improve, ensure you carefully verify the data points before making comparisons and avoid sweeping statements that do not accurately reflect the provided graphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'However', and 'By contrast' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, and some transitions feel mechanical. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when discussing the data points for different years. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports the overall summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'proportion', and 'categorized'. However, there are several spelling errors ('Britian', 'recoreded', 'excedded', 'percntile', 'licenece', 'similiar', 'bith') and minor word-choice inaccuracies. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not fully impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading your work for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary, such as 'trend', 'fluctuation', or 'disparity', to describe the data more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as comma splices in the introduction ('...driving licences, it is categorized...'), subject-verb agreement issues ('the number men holding... was'), and incorrect preposition usage. These errors occur throughout the text. To improve, work on sentence boundary punctuation to avoid run-on sentences and ensure that your subject and verb agree in number. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
