Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant comparisons between the two years. You covered the gender gap and the age-related increases effectively. However, the report lacks a clear overview of the most significant changes, such as the overall upward trend in license holding across almost all age groups. Additionally, some data points are slightly imprecise (e.g., 'more and less the same' for other age groups is vague). To reach a higher band, ensure you highlight the most striking differences, such as the dramatic rise in female license holders in older age brackets, rather than listing data points in isolation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'To sum up' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences within the second paragraph is somewhat mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the specific age groups could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would improve the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'minimally', 'modestly', and 'dramatically'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'Britishers', which is not standard academic terminology (use 'British people' or 'people in Great Britain'). The phrase 'more and less the same' is also informal. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding informal or non-standard terms to enhance the academic tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'the number of male license holders were' should be 'was') and minor punctuation errors (e.g., the space before the comma in 'years ,'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles will help improve the accuracy of your writing.
