Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph and makes relevant comparisons between age groups and sexes. However, the report is somewhat mechanical, relying on a list-like approach to data rather than synthesizing the information into a cohesive analytical summary. While the key trends are identified, the overview is quite basic. To improve, you should focus on grouping data more effectively—for instance, noting that the gap between men and women widens significantly in middle age—rather than simply listing percentages for every age bracket. This would demonstrate a more sophisticated level of data analysis required for higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical. Phrases like 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' are used frequently, sometimes in a way that feels forced. The progression of ideas is logical, moving through the age groups, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother to create a more natural flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the former', 'the latter') is used correctly would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You frequently repeat the phrase 'having driving license' or 'holding driving license', which makes the writing feel repetitive. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the great Britain' (should be 'Great Britain') and '85 percentage' (should be '85 percent'). To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider range of synonyms and more precise reporting verbs or nouns, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'exceeds', or 'surpasses', to avoid the constant repetition of basic structures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Issues include incorrect article usage ('the great Britain'), subject-verb agreement ('men holds'), and awkward phrasing ('individuals ranging from 17 to 20 ,men and women are almost having the same number'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
