Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to clearly summarize the main features of the data. The description is fragmented and lacks a coherent overview of the trends. For instance, phrases like 'the first line graph of age and as well as sex stood same' are confusing and do not accurately reflect the data presented in the charts. The response struggles to identify key comparisons, such as the general increase in license holders with age or the gender-based differences across the years. The information provided is often inaccurate or too vague to convey the actual trends shown in the graphs, resulting in a failure to adequately address the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks logical organization and progression. While there are attempts at paragraphing, the ideas within them are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used incorrectly or in a mechanical, repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'at third graph line' or 'mean while'. The referencing is unclear, making it difficult for the reader to understand which data points are being discussed. The lack of clear transitions between sentences and the absence of a logical structure significantly impede the flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'gentas section' (likely meaning 'men's section') and 'advert' (likely meaning 'evident'). The student relies on basic, repetitive language and struggles to use precise terminology to describe trends, such as 'rose' or 'decreased', without proper context. The spelling errors, such as 'great Britain' (capitalization) and 'are' (instead of 'age'), further detract from the clarity of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often distort the meaning. Sentence structures are simple and often incomplete or poorly constructed, such as 'It is advert that the comparisons between sex and age about the driving licenses.' There is a lack of control over basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement, article usage, and punctuation. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, leading to significant confusion. The high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read and understand.
