Student answer (Band 6.5)
The two different bar charts give information about the rate of men and women with complete driving licences in Great Britain which is sorted according to their ages and sex in two different periods (1975/76 and 2006).
Overall, there was a greater proportion of men who had full driving licences in the two distinct years (1975/76 and 2006) for all the age ranges as opposed to that of women. The both gender had a higher percentage of people with satisfied driving licences in the year 2006 than the time 1975/76 for all the age brackets with the exception of the male within the age range (21-29) that surpassed the quantity recorded in the year 2006 at a slightly small amount.
Men within the ages, 50-59 in 2006 had the most significant amount of holders with complete driving licences at 85%, and those inside the age range ( 17-20) witnessed the lowest quantity of people with required driving licences at 37%. Meanwhile, in the time 1975/76, men within ages 30-39, were those that made it to the top, in terms of having complete driving licences at 83%, while those that were 70 and above had the least users with full driving licences at 35%. On the women part, those within 40-49 of ages, had the greatest rate of people with satisfied licences in the year 2006 at 80% which was slightly lower than that of men in same year, and those within the ages 17-20 were the least in the number of people with full licences at 35%, which was a bit lower than that of men within the same year for same age range. Finally, the period 1975/76 also recorded the lowest holders when compared to the year 2006 for the female gender, with the age bracket (30-39) having the highest people with complete licences at 50%, and the 70 and over 70 still maintained the lowest at 8% just as it was in the male part.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all requirements of the task. You have identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons between the two years and the two genders. The overview is clear and highlights the key differences effectively. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in data interpretation; for instance, you mention that the male age range 21-29 in 1975/76 surpassed the 2006 figure, which is not clearly supported by the visual data provided. Additionally, some descriptions of the data are slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points cited are precise and avoid over-explaining the obvious, focusing instead on the most significant trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear, and you use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile', 'On the women part', and 'Finally'. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or unnatural, such as 'On the women part'. Furthermore, the referencing is occasionally imprecise, which makes some sentences harder to follow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the flow of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'age brackets', and 'significant amount'. However, there is a recurring issue with word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'satisfied driving licences' and 'lowest users' are unnatural in this context. You also tend to repeat the same phrases (e.g., 'complete driving licences') rather than using synonyms or paraphrasing. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to statistics and data reporting, and try to vary your vocabulary to avoid repetitive phrasing throughout the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'The both gender had' (should be 'Both genders had') and 'the 70 and over 70' (which is redundant). There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without unnecessary wordiness.
