Student answer (Band 5.5)
the graphs presented show the percentage of people holding full driving licenses in United Kingdom. We can observe that in [redacted phone] the men percentage at age between 17-20 is quite the same as in 2026, compared with women at the same age which shows increasing in numbers in 2006. In the other hand, the graphic shows drastic increasing in number of men who got their driving licenses at ages 70 and over 70 in 2006 compared to 1975/76, as well as for women at the same ages as the men. The range of numbers of driving licenses for men between ages 21 and 49, we can't observe a big difference, in contrast, for women between the same range of years, we see a masives differences. Comparing the results between men and women, overall we see a decreasing in numbers for driving licences gaining with adding years for women, compared with men which they have a slower decreasing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graphs, such as the trends for men and women across different age groups. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks precision. For example, stating that the percentage for men aged 17-20 is 'quite the same' is vague, and the description of the data for other age groups is difficult to follow due to unclear comparisons. While you identify the general trend of increasing license holders in older age groups, you fail to provide specific data points or clear comparative figures to support your observations. To improve, ensure you select key data points to illustrate your points rather than making broad, qualitative statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is presented as a single paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow. A clear structure with an introduction, overview, and separate body paragraphs for different trends is essential for a higher score. While there are some cohesive devices used, such as 'in contrast' and 'overall', they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that does not clearly link the ideas. The progression of information is somewhat disjointed, as the jump between age groups and years is not logically sequenced. Improving paragraphing and using a wider range of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'masives differences' (should be 'massive differences') and 'gaining with adding years'. You rely on repetitive structures and basic descriptors like 'big difference' and 'drastic increasing'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'a significant rise', 'a gradual decline', or 'a notable disparity'. Additionally, ensure you use the correct word forms, such as 'increase' instead of 'increasing' when used as a noun.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the men percentage' (should be 'the percentage of men'), 'in the other hand' (should be 'on the other hand'), and 'which they have a slower decreasing' (should be 'which showed a slower decrease'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and slashes. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions.
