Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarise the data but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the main features. The description of the trends is confusing and often inaccurate, such as the claim that men's age groups remained 'almost similar' in both years, which contradicts the data showing significant increases. The report lacks a logical selection of data points, and the comparisons are poorly articulated. The information provided is often vague, making it difficult for the reader to understand the actual trends shown in the graphs. To improve, you must focus on identifying the most significant changes and differences, rather than listing age groups without clear context or accurate data interpretation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal logic is weak. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes incorrect, such as the repetitive use of 'age group of' and 'while'. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult to follow which data points are being compared. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the lack of clear signposting makes the overall structure feel fragmented. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') would help create a more cohesive flow between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'increase', 'decrease', and 'similar'. There are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'graphs illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), 'holding full driving licence' (missing article), and 'significantally' (spelling). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider range of academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'a marked rise', or 'a substantial decline', and ensure correct word forms are used consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'graphs illustrates'), missing articles (e.g., 'in United Kingdom'), and incorrect sentence structures. The attempt at complex sentences is limited and often results in awkward phrasing, such as 'Women and men age group of 40-49 both side difference of increase of decrease'. The control over basic grammar is inconsistent, and there is a lack of variety in sentence structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
