Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have attempted to identify some main features, the response is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. You have failed to provide a comprehensive overview or a full comparison of the data across both time periods (1975/76 and 2006). To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, including a clear summary of trends and specific comparisons between the two years provided in the graph. The current lack of completion prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks a clear structure due to its unfinished state. While there is an attempt at an introduction and a body paragraph, the abrupt ending makes it impossible to evaluate the overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic manner, such as 'For men' and 'Moving ahead', but the lack of a concluding summary or a cohesive flow between the data points hinders the overall coherence. To improve, ensure that your essay has a clear introduction, a well-developed body, and a summary, using linking words to connect your observations logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and limited. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'highest full driving license' and 'maximum license', which are not entirely accurate collocations. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'between two different genders by the age', which is slightly awkward. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'peak', or 'fluctuate'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns will help you convey information more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'in women age group 40-49 had the highest', which lacks a subject, and 'increased from to nearly 80%', which contains a redundant preposition. The sentence structure is generally simple, and the attempt at more complex structures results in errors, such as 'before falling to 81% in for age a group 40-49'. You need to focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles to improve the accuracy of your writing.
