Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the main trends. You successfully identified the general increase in license holders for women and the consistent dominance of men across most age groups. However, the report is slightly hampered by a lack of precision in data presentation. For instance, you list specific percentages for men in 1975-1976 and 2006 without clearly distinguishing the two sets of data in a way that is easy to follow. Additionally, there is a minor error in the date reference (1975-1996 instead of 1975-1976). To improve, ensure that comparisons are more clearly structured and that all data points are accurately transcribed from the source.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from a general summary to specific details for men and then women. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'However', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, the cohesion within the body paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, particularly when listing statistics. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when you mention 'which increased according to statistics of 2006', which makes the sentence structure slightly convoluted. Improving the flow between sentences by using more varied linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'statistics', 'noticeable decline', and 'demonstrated'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Men have high percentage' (should be 'a high percentage') and 'women percentage holding license' (should be 'the percentage of women holding licenses'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure articles (a/the) are used correctly with nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with article usage ('in age group', 'in 2006 as compared to in time period') and subject-verb agreement ('men under 20 age group has'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'which reduces from 78% from 1975-1976 to 70% in 2006'. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the data. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding prepositions and pluralization.
