Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graphs, but the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive overview. While you identified that men generally hold more licenses than women, the attempt to compare the two time periods (1975-1976 and 2006) is confusingly phrased as 'early late 1900'. The summary of data points is accurate, but the presentation of figures is cluttered, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends. To improve, focus on grouping data more logically rather than listing every age bracket sequentially, and ensure the overview clearly highlights the most significant trends across both time periods.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'at the percentage of'. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when comparing the two time periods. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical progression of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'lincense', 'drving', 'similarily', and 'poplution'. You rely heavily on basic phrasing like 'at the percentage of' and 'followed shortly after'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'a significant disparity', 'a downward trend', or 'remained consistent'. Additionally, ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes, as these errors occur frequently throughout the text and detract from the overall quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect article usage ('the men exceeded the women'), punctuation errors (spaces before commas), and awkward phrasing ('men were the most to acquire'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage also need attention (e.g., 'at acquiring' should be 'in acquiring'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction before attempting more complex structures.
