Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. Because the text is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, the main features of the data are not adequately reported or compared. The overview provided is too brief and contains factual inaccuracies, such as referencing '1975' when the graph displays 1995. To improve, you must ensure you complete the summary by covering all age groups and both years, providing a clear, accurate overview, and meeting the minimum word count to allow for sufficient development of the data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response is too short to demonstrate a coherent structure or effective paragraphing. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the text ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence, preventing any logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the lack of completion makes it difficult to assess the flow of information. To improve, focus on structuring your report with a clear introduction, a distinct overview paragraph, and two body paragraphs that group data logically, using linking words to connect your comparisons.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'number' and 'having'. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'ratio of people' instead of 'percentage of people' and 'slight higher number' instead of 'slightly higher percentage'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'trend', 'fluctuation', and 'significant increase', and ensure you use adverbs correctly to modify your adjectives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that impede clarity. Examples include 'among males and females of different age group' (should be plural 'groups'), 'showed slight higher number' (missing 'a' and adverbial form 'slightly'), and 'as which is almost same' (awkward phrasing). The sentence structures are simple and the text is incomplete, which limits the assessment of grammatical range. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and using a variety of complex sentence structures, such as using 'while' or 'whereas' to contrast data points effectively.
