The graphs below show the percentage of people holding full driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Full car driving licence holders: by sex and age

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given graph provide information about the percentage of people holding driving licences in Britain by age and sex from the year 1975/76 to 2006.

The graph shows that the age group of men from 30-39 had the most licences which is around 82% in the year 1975/76 and women from the same age group had 50% of licences. However, the minimum percentage of men holders in the same year was around 35% of the group 70 and over, and women holders was around 5% respectively.

On the other hand, we can see that the age group of men from 50-59 had the maximum number of holders in the year 2006 that is 90% whereas women of age group 40-49 had the maximum percentage of driving licence that is 80%. Whereas, the minimum number of men holders in 2006 were around 38% between the age group 17-20 and minimum number of women holders were approximately 30% between the age groups 17-20 and 70 and over.

Overall, we can say that the percentage of men holding the licence has been the highest compared to women all over the years.
