The bar charts illustrate the portion of individuals holding full driving licences in Great Britain.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some main features, such as the general trends for men and women, the analysis is incomplete. The response ends abruptly mid-sentence, meaning you did not fully report on the data or provide a comprehensive summary. To improve, ensure you cover all age groups and compare the two time periods (1975/76 and 2006) more thoroughly. The lack of a complete conclusion and the failure to reach the minimum length prevent a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'At a glance' and 'In contrast', the logical flow is interrupted by the incomplete final sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear; for instance, 'In contrary' is used incorrectly to introduce a comparison. The paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending makes the overall structure feel unfinished and lacking in cohesion. To improve, focus on using transition words to link sentences more smoothly and ensure each paragraph has a clear, completed focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'holding' and 'number'. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'middle aged women are nearly reached' (should be 'had nearly reached') and 'In contrary' (should be 'In contrast'). To achieve a higher score, try to use more varied reporting verbs and nouns related to data, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'women were holding less licences' (should be 'fewer'), 'women age of 17-20 are holding' (should be 'aged 17-20 held'), and 'women were accounted for' (should be 'accounted for'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the final sentence is incomplete, which is a major grammatical failure. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions to improve accuracy.
