The graphs below show the percentage of people holding full driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar graphs illustrate the proportion of individuals having driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

Overall, the proportion of licence holders was by far the highest in 2006 for both men and women, with 21-29 age group of men being the only exception. However, men of all age groups featured the highest percentage than women among all years.

In 1975/76, the proportion for men, with age group 17-20, remained approximately nearby 40%, while it was 20% for women. However, the figure for licence holders surged to around 75% for men and almost 40% for women, with an age group 21-29. For 30-39 age group, the percentage was about above 80% for men and 50% for women, but for an age group 40-49, the figure stood at around above 80% and a little lower than 40% for men and women, respectively. For the age group 50 and over, the figure plummeted for both men and women, reaching around 35% for gents, while 5% for ladies, experiencing a great difference.

In 2006, the proportion for individuals holding licences lies higher than the proportion in 1975/76. For an age group 17-20, the proportion of men that had licences was nearby 40%, while featuring around 35% for women. For 21-29 age group, the figure for men soared to approximately nearby 80%, whereas it was a little higher than 40% for women. The proportion of men holding licences remained almost the same having the age group 30-49, at above 80%, but the figure decreased to around 35% in the further age groups. For women, the proportion was approximately 80%, within the age group 30-49, whereas it kept falling until the age group 70 and over, reaching around 30%.
