The graphs below show the percentage of people holding full driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The horizontal bar diagram shown in the question illustrates the percentage of men and women holding full driving licenses in Great Britain, categorised into 7 different age groups for the years of 1975/76 and 2006.

Overall, from the graph it is evident that there has been a significant increase in the percentage of women holding full driver license from the year 1975/76 to 2006 in Great Britain. This holds true for every single age group. For men, the percentage distribution among age groups has been similar. Only the percentage has increased during the years, except the age group of 21-29 where we can observe a decline.

To begin with, we can see that women aged 40-49 has seen the largest increase in the percentage of driving license holder, becoming close to 80% in 2006 from around 40% in 1975/76. Although significant increase can be seen throughout the age groups, one significant jump could be observed for the age group of 70 and over, where there are approximately 25% license holders in 2006 compared to a handful in 1975/76.

For men, a nice bell-curve is observed throughout the age groups for both the time points. The age group of 50-59 had almost 95% of license holders in 2006 compared to an approximate of 75% in 1975/76. In contrast, for men aged 21-29, we can see a very unexpected drop of around 4% in the number of license holders. This is the only talking point of otherwise a quite expected plot displaying the numbers for men.
