The graphs below show the percentage of people holding full driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar chart delineates the percentage of individuals holding full diving licences by the age and sex in Great Britain.

Overall, the most noticeable factor is; significant amount of women did not hold a full driving licences in 1975/76, whereas the men population dominated and remained mostly the same in 1975/76 and 2006.

In 1975/76, mostly the female around the age 30-49 had driving license approximately around 50%, however great percentage of men held driving license, particularly the age 50-59 in men had full driving licenses by around 85% and other ages such as 40-49, 30-39 or 60-69 followed respectively with slight difference of 5 to 15%, nevertheless men and women at the age 17-20 had lower percentage around 37% in men and 19% in women. It was the same for age over 70, men were around 38%, while women at around 5%.

By 2006,women made significant prgress and mostly the women in the age of 40-49 had full driving license, followed by age 30-39 ,50 to 59 and 69 with a slight diffrence of around 4 to 5% from each other. The men remained mostly the same but the group age 21-29 declined in contrast to 1975/76, where it ws first at 77% then it declined to around 70%.
