The graphs below show the percentage of people holding full driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Full car driving licence holders: by sex and age

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The graphs represent comparison of the proportion of people holding full driving licenses in Great Britain on the basis of age and gender in the year 1975/76 and 2006.

Overall, men drivers hold largest proportion of full car driving license to that of women in both the years. Similarly, the percentage of license holders in has increased in all category of age groups, both for males and females.

In detail, the highest proportion of full car driving license holder consists of males at the age group of 50-59 years at 92%, followed by the age group of 60 to 69 at 90%. Previously, in 1975/76, the age group of 30-39 years hold the record numbers of license holders at 83%. In contrast, males at the age of 17-20, had least driving license in the year 2006. Likewise, about 30% of males at the age of 70 and over hold minimum number of driving license.

On the other hand, women between the age of 40-49 and 30-39 recorded the largest driving licese holders at 80%. While, least license holders come at the age group of 70 and over for both years.
