Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to cover the data across different age groups and years, but it lacks an overall summary or clear overview of the main trends. The student lists age groups mechanically (e.g., 'At the age of 30-39... At the age of 40-49...'), resulting in a repetitive structure that does not effectively group or highlight key comparisons. Furthermore, several data points are inaccurate or misreported (for instance, claiming there is a large difference for men and women at 60-69 in 1975/76 when the chart shows 60% versus 13%, but describing 2006 similarly despite 91% versus 63%). This falls short of presenting a fully clear and accurate summary of main features. Band 4.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text suffers from a lack of proper paragraphing, appearing as a single dense block of text. There is no clear overall progression; instead, the response relies heavily on repetitive sentence openings ('At the age of... in 1975/76 male have more percentage than female while in 2006...'). Cohesive devices are extremely basic and repetitive, failing to create a smooth, logical flow of information. Referencing and logical sequencing are weak, making the progression difficult to follow. Band 4.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive throughout the response. The student repeatedly uses phrases like 'percentage of licence holders', 'male have more percentage than female', and 'small difference'. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'male have percentage than female' (omitting 'a higher' or similar) and misspelling words like 'perecentage' and 'differnece'. The range is restricted and inadequate for a standard academic task response. Band 4.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical structures are severely limited and repetitive. The student relies entirely on repetitive, clunky compound sentences joined by 'while'. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in male rather than female'), subject-verb agreement issues ('male have'), and incorrect prepositions ('at the age of above 70'). Punctuation is also neglected, with lowercase letters at the beginning of sentences and run-on structures. These persistent errors cause frequent strain for the reader. Band 4.
