Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially and attempts to report some main features and comparisons from the charts. However, the data presentation lacks precision and misses key comparative elements. For instance, the comment that men of all ages are almost the same between the two years is inaccurate for age groups like 60-69 and 70 and over, where significant increases occurred. Furthermore, the mention of the year 2026 is an error based on the prompt's data from 2006. While an overview is attempted, the limited development of key trends and inaccurate data descriptions prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation in the text, beginning with an introductory sentence about the graph's title and subject. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the response is presented as a single block of text rather than being divided into logical paragraphs. Cohesive devices are minimal, mechanical, and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'Contrary to men, women side of graph show relatively enormus change'. Referencing and logical sequencing between sentences require improvement to ensure a smoother flow of information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used provides a limited but minimally adequate range for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'enormus change' and 'significantly hold more percentage', but these attempts are marred by noticeable word-form and spelling errors like 'enormus' and 'tripple'. Word choices are sometimes awkward, and there are repetitive structures in how data is described. While the meaning is generally communicated, the persistent lexical inaccuracies restrict the score to this band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. There are frequent grammatical mistakes involving prepositions, articles, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'relative to there ages' and 'The man side of the graph show'. Attempts at complex structures are often faulty, and errors such as missing articles ('the women side of graph') cause some difficulty for the reader throughout the text.
