Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While you attempt to summarise the data by mentioning gender and age groups, the selection of data is erratic and often inaccurate, with numerous specific numbers misreported compared to the visual chart (such as stating men aged 17-20 increased to 40% or mixing up trends between categories). The overview is very basic, stating simply that males opt for a higher percentage and women show growth. Ideas are limited and under-developed, lacking a clear and accurate synthesis of the main overall trends across both years. To reach a higher level, you need to accurately report key data points without factual errors and provide a much clearer overview of the most significant trends shown in the graphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation evident in your attempt to structure the essay into an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, as seen in the frequent mechanical use of transitional phrases like 'To commence with' and 'To start with' at the beginning of consecutive paragraphs. Furthermore, referencing and paragraph logic are faulty because the third and fourth paragraphs contain nearly identical, repetitive wording and structural patterns instead of systematically grouping the data for men and women. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a distinct logical purpose and vary your cohesive devices naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. You make noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms that sometimes cause difficulty for the reader, such as writing 'Britian' instead of Britain, 'precentage' instead of percentage, 'femen' instead of women, and using the verb 'opt' inappropriately to describe statistical holding percentages. You rely on basic terms and make frequent errors when attempting less common vocabulary. To achieve a higher score, you should expand your vocabulary to include precise statistical verbs and nouns, pay closer attention to accurate spelling, and ensure that word forms match the grammatical context of your sentences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences and basic constructions. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in grammar that can cause difficulty for the reader. For example, you write 'The bar graphs illustrates' (subject-verb agreement error), 'people having full driving license' (missing article and prepositional phrasing), and 'was increared... was fall' (incorrect passive and tense formations). Additionally, prepositions and verb tenses are inconsistently handled. To improve your grammatical score, you need to practice forming accurate verb tenses for past data, ensure correct subject-verb agreement, and broaden your control over complex sentence patterns.
