This graph shows the percentage of people holding full driving licences in Great Britain by age and sex.

If we talk about the age so the age in this graph is start from 17 to 70 above. If, I categorize the ages in this graph so the first age is between 17 to 20,tge second is start from 21 to 29,the third one is start from 30 to 39,the forth one is start from 40 to 49,and others are 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. And this graph also show the different percentages and also men and women categories. In this graph, they show that how many mens and womens holding driving licensed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies the chart’s subject and attempts comparisons across all seven age groups, so it is relevant to the task. However, it does not provide a clear overview of the main patterns, and its concluding claim that men have higher licence rates than women is too broad: in 1975/76, women aged 17–20 were at about 20%, compared with men at 36%, while the response gives different figures and reverses the comparison. Several reported values also do not match the chart—for example, men aged 50–59 were about 76% in 1975/76 and 92% in 2006, not 90%, and the response does not distinguish the two years. Focus on the key changes over time and report accurate comparisons. (15 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic sequence: an introduction, an explanation of the age groups, a list of comparisons, and a conclusion. The bullet points make the age-by-age information easy to locate. However, the response does not develop a clear overall progression from the most important features to supporting details. The long passage beginning “If I categorize the ages” repeats information already shown in the chart, while the list gives figures without grouping related trends or distinguishing the two years. The conclusion is also too general to bring the main findings together. Organise the response into paragraphs, give an overview after the introduction, and group comparisons by sex, age, or change over time. Use linking phrases to show how the details relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses relevant topic vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age,” “men,” “women,” and “driving licence,” and the reader can generally understand the intended subject. However, the range is repetitive, with “have …% of driving licence” used for nearly every comparison. Several word choices and forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “mens and womens,” “driving licensed,” and “holding driving licenced”; these reduce precision in a task that depends on describing data. Use standard terms such as “licence holders” and “the proportion of men/women,” and vary reporting verbs with “stood at,” “accounted for,” or “rose to.” Check spelling and plural forms, including “women,” and avoid conversational framing such as “If we talk about.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer structures, for example “If I compare the mens and womens percentages … are as follow,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and sentence construction appear in “this graph also show” and “the age in this graph is start from 17 to 70 above.” The opening conditional clauses are often incomplete or awkwardly connected, and punctuation is inconsistent, particularly around the bullet points. Most comparisons follow a repeated simple pattern, so there is little evidence of controlled variety. Practise accurate comparative sentences, such as “Among 21–29-year-olds, the male figure was higher than the female figure,” and use past-tense reporting consistently when describing the 1975/76 and 2006 data.
