Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response attempts to describe the chart and gives a broad comparison between men and women, but it does not accurately identify the main patterns or report reliable supporting figures. For example, “Men is always highest and the women is lowest” overlooks that women’s figures rise substantially by 2006, reaching about 79% among 40–49-year-olds, while men’s figure for 17–20-year-olds is only about 37%. The claim that “the 80 percentage is equal” is unclear and unsupported. The overview also says there is “no stability” without explaining a meaningful trend. The response is 142 words, below the required 150, and needs a clearer overview plus accurate comparisons across both years and age groups.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is an attempt to organise the response with an opening, an overview signalled by “Overall,” and linking words such as “Furthermore.” However, the ideas do not progress in a clear sequence: the response moves from general statements to age groups and then repeats that men are high and women low, without grouping the data by year, sex, or age. Several references are difficult to follow, including “the 80 percentage is equal” and “all the provided data,” because it is unclear which figures or categories these refer to. To improve, use separate paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and connect each comparison explicitly to its age group and year rather than repeating broad claims.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “categories,” “comparison,” and “data,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “bar chat,” “first main activites,” “men performance,” and “no stability in the all activites.” These choices make the description imprecise and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. Spelling and word-form errors, including “Futhermore” and “activites,” also reduce control. Build a more precise set of chart-description phrases, such as “the proportion of licence holders,” “increased markedly,” and “the highest figure,” and use them to describe specific age groups and years.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response communicates a general comparison, but sentence structures are mostly simple and several grammatical errors make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “Men percentage is high ang women percentage is low,” where the possessive form and verb agreement are faulty, and “the age is 70 over,” which lacks a clear grammatical construction. The sentence “The men 60 and 69 percentage is always high” also has an unclear structure and missing preposition. There is some attempt to form longer sentences, such as “This show a clear comparison among the categories shown in the chart,” but subject–verb agreement is incorrect. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then combine them with controlled comparisons using “whereas” and “while.”
