Student answer (Band 4.5)
This bar chart showes the persentages of man and women in Great Bertain who hold a full driving lcaence across different age and groups
Over all man were more then have full driving lancence then womens
look at the firdst one the youngest the persentage of relevent full driving lancense was low and time to time increase the graph like from 17 to 20 is low then 21 to 29 is higher then ypunger people so thus show that a youngest persons have less ring lancnce then adu;t or age of 21 to 29 and if we see the higher age luke from 30 to 39 who got the license the ratio of these people is very high then the age of 21 to 29 i thing it is because of these age of ,manor women are have there own jobs buainess anfd here own car thats why they have large persentages carries there driving lancense and if we see the age greater then this like greater then 39 which us 40 to 49 having same pwesentages and i thing this reason os same they also have tere own car there family and mmust have there licence and then move to 50 to 59 rhis is less then that because thers age of man and women have there chld having age like 18 to 20 have there own licence so thats why ratio or persentages is low and then move to older people like 60 to 69 this ages of man and women have less persentages of having driing icence and we have a last age whcih is like 70 or 70 plus so this age of people man ratio is high and women ratio is low because of there illines like something so this our allgraph so these are the main comparson that whatsa going own.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response recognises the chart’s subject and gives a broad overview that men generally had higher licence-holding rates than women. However, the account is largely a speculative discussion of age groups rather than a clear summary of the chart’s main comparisons. Several claims are inaccurate: for example, you say the 50–59 group is lower than 40–49, although the figures are similar for men and higher for women in 2006; you also suggest the 60–69 group has lower rates than the 50–59 group, which is not true for 2006. The explanation about jobs, cars, children and illness is not supported by the data. Select a few accurate contrasts, especially the substantial rise among women and older people between the two years, and report them without guessing at causes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to guide the reader through age groups, using phrases such as “look at the first one,” “then move to,” and “we have a last age.” This gives the response some sequence, but the progression is difficult to follow because nearly all the information is placed in one long paragraph and one extended sentence. The repeated “and then” structure makes the account feel like a list, while references such as “this age” and “these people” are not always clear. Separate the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and grouped details. Use clear comparisons between the two years and between men and women, rather than moving through every age group with repeated linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “percentages,” “age,” “ratio,” and “driving licence,” so the topic is generally identifiable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors make key terms difficult to recognise, for example “persentages,” “lancence,” and “driving icence.” Several expressions are also imprecise or unsuitable for describing a chart, such as “the graph like,” “ratio is high,” and “this our allgraph.” Avoid informal or speculative wording such as “I think” and “own jobs business.” Practise accurate chart language such as “the proportion of licence holders,” “rose markedly,” and “was highest among,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas with longer sentences, but these are often difficult to control, and there is little evidence of accurate sentence variety. The opening has subject–verb and article problems (“This bar chart showes”), while later clauses frequently lack clear grammatical structure, as in “the age of man and women have there own car.” Agreement, plurals, possessives and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, and the long final sentence contains several ideas joined without effective punctuation. These errors often make relationships between ideas unclear. Build accuracy first with short, complete sentences using a clear subject and verb, then add controlled comparisons with forms such as “while,” “whereas” and “compared with.”
