Student answer (Band 5.5)
A big number of learners decided to learn English independently on the basis of self-reliance rather than attending a academic course. On the other hand, some students often find it hard to manage their studies without any assistance of the teacher. This essay agrees with this statement and believe that the role of teacher in academic activities is essential. This essay will first discuss how our tutor help us in preparation of exams and then talk about how instructor play a vital role in our social life.of
It is believed that without the help of professor in university and other academic institutes, we cannot know the real meaning of a simpler thing. Our respected teaches can work day and night for our success in the academic activities. They can also prepare us for exams. For instance, if we try to study on self-reliance without taking help from any guide and any other source like online lectures. There is a chance that we failed in the upcoming exams. I also face the situation when I was in 8 grade.
The instructor also helped the students to manage their social lifes because the teacher passed from the same age. They have a lot of experience about social life. Similarly, they can also support and advice the students in their coming life. For example, when I was in college, I really depressed due to my social life. So, my tutor can support me in that case.
In conclusion, the teacher is necessary for academic acticities

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is stated clearly: “This essay agrees” that students can struggle without a teacher, and you give two relevant reasons—exam preparation and support with social difficulties. The personal examples from school and college also help connect the discussion to experience. However, the response only partly develops the task: it does not explain in much detail how independent learners struggle to organise or monitor their studies, and the exam example is unclear about why self-study would lead to failure. The social-life point is relevant but only loosely connected to managing studies. To strengthen the response, explain the extent of your agreement more precisely and develop each reason with a clear cause-and-effect explanation and a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an identifiable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can follow the broad sequence from academic support to social support. The opening also previews the two main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weak: the first body paragraph moves from the value of professors to exam preparation and then to a brief personal example without fully linking these ideas. Connectors such as “On the other hand” and “Similarly” do not always express the relationship accurately, and the conclusion is too brief to bring the main reasons together. Some references, including “they” and “that case,” are not fully clear. Use topic sentences and explicit links between each claim, explanation and example to make the argument more coherent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “self-reliance,” “academic activities,” “assistance,” and “social life,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “the role of teacher … is essential.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “a big number of learners,” “our respected teaches,” “social lifes,” and “support and advice.” Some repetition of “teacher,” “students,” and “help” also limits flexibility. Aim for more natural academic collocations and check word forms and spelling; for example, use “many learners,” “teachers,” and “social lives.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure beginning “if we try to study…” and a sentence with “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “This essay … believe” (subject–verb agreement), “a academic course” (article use), “our tutor help us” (agreement), and “when I was in 8 grade” (article and ordinal form). Tense shifts also affect clarity, as in “when I was in college … my tutor can support me.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, particularly the fragment beginning “For instance” and the stray “of” after the introduction. Practise accurate sentence patterns before adding more complex clauses.
