Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response makes a limited attempt to address the topic, but it does not clearly answer whether you agree or disagree that students struggle to manage independent study without a teacher. The opening repeats the general situation, while “we also can do self study at home” suggests a benefit without explaining how it relates to the question. The final statement, “Its not a big deal to find tiutor,” is also unclear as support for a position. The response is substantially below the required 250 words; the 13 words taken from the prompt are not counted. This leaves too little space to develop reasons or provide a relevant example. State your position directly, then explain and illustrate two relevant reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an opening and two further paragraphs, and “On the other hand” signals a change in direction. However, the ideas do not progress clearly: the opening introduces the issue, the next paragraph shifts between teachers’ availability and studying at home, and the final sentence introduces finding a tutor without connecting it to the preceding point. The contrast marker does not establish a clear relationship between the ideas, and “because” introduces an explanation that remains difficult to follow. Build a simple sequence—position, reason, explanation or example, then a second reason—and use linking phrases only when their relationship is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a small set of topic-related expressions, including “study English independently,” “formal course,” “teacher,” and “self study at home,” so the main subject is recognisable. However, the vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or forms make meaning unclear, such as “assistant of a teacher,” “Its may be difficulty,” and “find tiutor.” Spelling and capitalisation are also inconsistent, including “english” and “tiutor.” These limitations restrict the precision needed to explain an opinion and support it with examples. Build a more accurate range around the topic, such as “self-directed learning,” “guidance,” “study plan,” and “feedback,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both short statements and a longer sentence with “because” and “which,” showing some effort to vary sentence structure. However, control is inconsistent: “its plays” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, “there is several teacher” has an agreement error, and “often to managed their studies” does not form a complete, accurate clause. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “formal course. Its” and “teacher, often.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to understand. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses—for example, “Students may struggle because they lack a clear study plan”—and check agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation.
