Student answer (Band 5.5)
Yes , I agree with that more students try to study English by own and it takes years to learn English though they cant speak properly. This is mainly due to students thinks that the english is very easy language to learn , being in a over confidence. for example let me talk about myself when i complected my board exam i decided to learn English by my own at home. i made a timetable for me in which i have to read news paper, watch news , write essay , listening podcast and many more things like that. but when it comes to do this all things regular with consistantly , it feels very difficult to do all of this. When i practice this things for a while and the result are nothing. I end up with queting study for English.
So i thing those who wants to learn English really. They must have to join the class , so we dont have to think about the process , we just have follow the class syllabus. This is vey big advantage of studying in class.
Although if we study English at home while doing regular stuff like if we watch any movie ,series or reels in English , it will really improve our skills in reality. And in todays generation learning English is very essential at every sector weather you have to do bussiness or job.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of formal classes. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. While you provide a personal example, the ideas are somewhat underdeveloped. To improve, you should expand on why self-study fails (e.g., lack of structured feedback or accountability) and why formal classes succeed (e.g., expert guidance, peer interaction). The conclusion is brief and does not fully summarize the main points. Because the word count is below the requirement, the development of ideas is restricted, preventing a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into three short paragraphs, which is a basic structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'for example', 'although', 'so'). There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas between sentences. For instance, the transition between your personal experience and the general argument about class benefits is abrupt. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate the discussion of self-study challenges from the benefits of formal education. Improving the flow between sentences would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive language (e.g., 'very easy', 'very big', 'very essential'). There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'complected' instead of 'completed', 'by own' instead of 'on my own', and 'queting' instead of 'quitting'. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of spelling errors limit your score. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more academic synonyms for common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'students thinks'), article usage (e.g., 'the english'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'being in a over confidence'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While you attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence accuracy and ensuring correct verb forms will help you achieve a higher band score.
