Student answer (Band 6.0)
A significant number of students consider to learn English independently on their own instead of getting enrolled into a course. Moreover without the guidance of a teacher some times students face difficulties in their studies . This has become a heated topic in this contemporary society. Why students decide to study english on their and is this positive for them. This will be discussed in this essay.
Students who choose to study English on their own are mostly with low confidence. They believe their intelligence is not enough to adapt a new language . They often face difficulties while talking in english for example their heart starts to beat fast they think what if I say a sentence and its Grammer would be wrong . Students will make fun of me . This is They reason why they prefer to to study English independently on a self- study basis . But also these students faces difficulties when they don't understand a concept. When they do not understand a topic. then they are bounded by the walls they have created in their mind . These students are often stuck in some tasks which took days to complete however with the guidance if a teacher they can finish the same task within hours .
In my perspective a teacher is essential for every course . There are a lot of difficulties a student face everyday a teacher helps him to solve problems . I think students should be encouraged to ask for help. This good for them . This will teach them that its ok to ask for help from a teacher .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the challenges of self-study versus formal instruction. However, the development is limited. You mention that students study independently due to low confidence, but the argument lacks depth and specific examples. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed reasoning and clearer examples of how a teacher specifically facilitates learning, rather than just stating that they are 'essential'. The position is clear, but the supporting ideas are somewhat underdeveloped and repetitive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction contains several sentence fragments and punctuation errors that disrupt the flow. While you use some cohesive devices like 'however' and 'for example', they are often used incorrectly or in a mechanical way. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between the fear of making mistakes and the difficulty of understanding concepts is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly improve the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'face difficulties' and 'study English'. There are also some collocation errors, such as 'consider to learn' (should be 'consider learning') and 'adapt a new language' (should be 'adopt' or 'acquire'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and occasional word-choice errors limit the score. Using more academic synonyms and precise collocations would help demonstrate a stronger command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently make errors with articles, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these students faces'), and punctuation. Several sentences are fragmented, such as 'When they do not understand a topic. then they are bounded...', which hinders readability. The use of 'its' instead of 'it's' is a recurring error. While you attempt complex sentences, the frequency of grammatical slips is high enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
