Student answer (Band 5.5)

There are so many individuals have prefer study English independently on a self-study basis rather than attend a formal course. However, without the assistance of a teacher, students often find it difficult to manage their studies. The former and later views both have their own metric and demerit. Both the views are explained in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, there are so many pupils are used self study in English subject they do not need of tutor for due to there conditional problem they do not have the money for the tutor they can not afford the tutor so from this purposes they are learn by them self. Further more some students are believes that English is easy language to learn so they can doing by them self without need help form the teacher so form that they can not attend the formal course.

Besides this, they are so many difficult or challenges faced by the students without teacher they can not learn and so many distraction are lead by the students. However, they can not solve the difficult by them self and teachers can help them to find easy solution for the difficult.

In conclusion, the self study is better if we can not distraction is not occur and students can solve the difficult by them self. The teachers is help to find out the easy solution for the problem occurs while study the English. I partially agree with both the views.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both independent study and the role of teachers. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The position is somewhat unclear, as the conclusion states a partial agreement without fully reconciling the arguments presented. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. To improve, you should expand on your points with specific examples or logical explanations rather than repeating the same concepts. Ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and maintained consistently throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with' and 'In conclusion', but they are often used incorrectly or in a mechanical way. For example, 'The former and later views' is an inaccurate reference to the prompt. The relationship between sentences is sometimes unclear, making the flow of ideas disjointed. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central idea that links back to your main argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'metric and demerit' (likely meaning merits and demerits) and 'conditional problem' (likely meaning financial constraints). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, try to learn synonyms for common words and focus on using words in their correct context. Avoid using phrases you are not entirely confident about, as this can lead to confusion for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('there are so many individuals have prefer'), sentence structure ('they can not doing by them self'), and article usage. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs. Proofreading your work for basic errors like 'they are learn' vs 'they learn' would significantly improve your score.
