Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's contemporary world, the majority of learning individuals opted to learn English language independently with their own resources and study materials rather than joining traditional classes. I completely agree with the assertion that managing one's language studies without professional instruction presents numerous challenges, primarily due to the lack of structured guidance, immediate feedback, and personal accountability.

The main obstacle that the independent learners face is the lack of optimal targeted feedback. The learning aspect consist of input and output, as the input consist of performance of the learner and the output understands the input and provides criticism that can play vital role in mastering the English language. Moreover, without an experienced educator to identify grammatical errors, correct pronunciation, and refine nuanced vocabulary, self-studying students often unconsciously reinforce their own mistakes

Furthermore, self directed learners frequently struggle with curriculum design and self discipline. The sheer volume of online resources can be overwhelming which can leads to early quitting, making it difficult for students to create a logical, step-by-step syllabus tailored to their specific proficiency level. Additionally maintaining consistency requires immense willpower. In a formal course, deadlines, structured schedules, and teacher oversight naturally increases discipline. Without this external framework, autonomous learners are far more prone to procrastination and irregular study habits.

To conclude , I firmly maintain an idea that, learning a language requires consistency and discipline, majority of individuals lacks the willpower to pursue and master it, that creates a void for assistance of a teacher to guide appropriately.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding feedback, curriculum design, and discipline are relevant and well-developed. However, the essay is 249 words long, falling just short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This minor omission impacts the overall task completion. While the ideas are logically extended, the slight under-length prevents a higher score, as the development of the final paragraph feels somewhat rushed. To improve, ensure you expand slightly on your concluding thoughts to comfortably exceed the word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'Furthermore,' and 'Additionally' are used effectively to link sentences and ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments. The flow is generally smooth, though the transition between the input/output explanation in the second paragraph could be slightly more refined to improve clarity.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally appropriate and demonstrates a good range, including terms like 'contemporary,' 'autonomous,' 'procrastination,' and 'unconsciously.' There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'learning individuals' (a bit unnatural) and 'the input consist' (subject-verb agreement error). However, the student successfully uses less common items to convey complex ideas. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic with precision, and the minor errors do not impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the majority of learning individuals opted' (tense inconsistency), 'the input consist' (subject-verb agreement), and 'which can leads to' (incorrect verb form). While these errors are noticeable, they do not significantly impede the reader's understanding. The punctuation is generally accurate, but the sentence structure could be more varied to demonstrate higher control. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve the score.
