Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, many students are considering to self-learn English without attending a formal course. Some people believe that it is necessary for students to take help from a professional teacher to manage their studies effectively. I strongly agree with the statement.
Although, the advancements in digital technology enable students to self-study English without depending on a formal course. I believe that English should be learned with the assistance of a teacher for several reasons. Firstly, professional teachers use personalized teaching methodologies according to the need of students. As every student has different cognitive capacities, they feel difficulty in different areas, which requires a specific approach for the improvement. For instance, one student has difficulty in grammar, while other is struggling with vocabulary. A professional teaching assistant will be able to identify the weak areas and will plan the lessons accordingly.
Beside that, teachers conduct classes in a structured manner. For instance, they teach simple concepts first to make base that will help students to learn complex ideas. it will allow students to learn the English step by step. Moreover, teacher evaluate student's progress for each module based on assignments and exams, and provide valuable feedback regarding their progress. It will help the student's to identify the problems and a teacher can suggest an effective way to overcome it.
In conclusion, although self-studying has been convenient in the current digital era, an effective learning is only possible with the assistance of a professional teacher, as he/she would teach in a systematic way, address the weak areas, and provide suggestions to overcome those effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly addressed the prompt and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant and logically extended, particularly the points regarding personalized methodologies and structured learning. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are slightly more specific; for instance, instead of saying 'one student has difficulty in grammar', you could describe a scenario where a teacher identifies a specific gap in conditional tenses. Overall, the response is well-developed and directly answers the question regarding the necessity of a teacher in the learning process.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Beside that', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or grammatically awkward, such as 'Beside that' (which should be 'Besides that' or 'Furthermore'). Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct arguments. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'it will allow') clearly points back to the intended antecedent.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cognitive capacities', 'methodologies', and 'systematic'. There are some minor word-choice errors, such as 'take help from' (better: 'seek guidance from' or 'receive instruction from') and 'make base' (better: 'establish a foundation'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precise collocation required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural phrasing and academic collocations will help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'students are considering to self-learn' should be 'considering self-learning', and 'teacher evaluate' should be 'teachers evaluate'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'the need of students' (the needs) and 'the student's' (the students). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles.
