Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this fast-paced era, the education has became an integral part of students' life. Most number of students prefer to learn English by themselves rather than attend a formal course. Although pupils often find it difficult to manage their studies, without the assistance of a teacher. I largey agree with this viewpoint because although self-study has some advantages, a teacher provides structure, feedback and personalised guidance that independent learners often lack.
To commence with, teachers can explain difficult concepts. To elaborate on this, teachers have lot of experiences of curriculum, and they have been facing several obstacles. Although students become independent by self-study, they do lot of beginner mistakes. In addition, instructors can able to tackle pupils from starting problems. For example, proper guidance prevents grammatical as well as pronounciation errors to provide fruitful leraning for students. Therefore, pupils are able to correct mistakes to learn and progress, and never repeat it again.
Futhermore, Formal courses provide better stucture and feedback. This is because formal courses provide schedules and dealines, which make students more likely to remain consistent as well as discipline person. Also, pupils can get benefit of physical interaction with teachers, and ask them about queries related to particular subject. For example, formal courses take exams or tests to jugde performance of students. As a result, exams build confidence among pupils and they are competed a goal.
However, self-study is more flexible because students can learn at their own place. It also saves travelling time and expensive course fees. By contrast, self-learning never replaces personalised teachers feedback.
To recapitulate, self-study is useful because students become indepedent. Although it saves time and cost. On the other hand, teachers provide proper guidance, structure as well as correct errors.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding the benefits of formal instruction—such as structure, feedback, and personalized guidance—are relevant and supported with examples. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the mention of 'beginner mistakes' could be more explicitly linked to how a teacher specifically intervenes. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, though it is somewhat repetitive. Overall, the essay provides a balanced view while clearly supporting the necessity of teacher-led education, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0, but settling at 6.5 due to the lack of depth in some supporting arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'By contrast', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, although there are occasional minor issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the fragmented sentence structure in the introduction ('Although pupils often find it difficult to manage their studies, without the assistance of a teacher.'). The overall arrangement is coherent, but the flow could be improved with more varied linking phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items, such as 'integral part', 'personalised guidance', and 'fruitful learning'. However, there are several noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'largey' (largely), 'pronounciation' (pronunciation), 'leraning' (learning), and 'stucture' (structure). Additionally, some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'lot of beginner mistakes' instead of 'common beginner errors'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary control to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the education has became'), subject-verb agreement ('teachers have lot of experiences'), and prepositional usage ('learn at their own place' instead of 'pace'). Some sentences are grammatically incomplete or awkward, such as 'instructors can able to tackle pupils from starting problems'. Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The errors rarely impede meaning, but they are persistent throughout the text.
