A huge number of students choose to study English independently on a self- study basis rather than attend a formal course. However, without the assistance of a teacher, students often find it difficult to manage their studies.

Student answer (Band 6.0)
Most of the pupils choose to learn English by their own rather than joining the specific courses. Nevertheless, students find it hard to manage it without the involvement of the experts. I partially agree with this statement and the reasons I will explain in below paragraphs.
The very obvious reason behind this theory is mind maturity level of the individual. If a person is able to explore the resources required to learn the language one can easily master the subject whereas if a student is quite dependent and do not have an idea of how to find the material on his own then undoubtedly the assistance is needed in that case scenario.
On the other side of coin, a student knows the path or self study patterns however does not have the resources such as nearby library or technology gadgets such as mobile phone and laptop. So, in this scenario a pupil has to find a help from formal classes and definitely need a guidance from teacher for proper guidance on pronunciation of language and many other things which are required to master a English language.
In conclusion, it depend upon the intellectual levels of any individual if a student believes in him or her and expert to manage the online and other available resources and why there is a need of going to physical classes however if there are lack of resources or person's ability is unmatchable then one can get an assistance of formal classes and teachers as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both independent study and the need for formal instruction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'mind maturity' is vague and lacks concrete examples or logical depth. The conclusion is repetitive and struggles to clearly synthesize the position, as the phrasing 'it depend upon the intellectual levels' is slightly confusing. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments are not fully extended, leading to a response that feels underdeveloped in its analysis of the complexities of self-study versus formal education.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly awkward. Phrases like 'On the other side of coin' (missing an article) and 'The very obvious reason behind this theory' feel forced. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the final paragraph, where the sentence structure becomes convoluted, making it difficult to track the relationship between the ideas presented. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of unnatural collocations or word choices, such as 'by their own' (instead of 'on their own'), 'technology gadgets' (redundant), and 'unmatchable' (used incorrectly to mean 'insufficient'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is limited, and the student relies on basic phrasing. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more sophisticated vocabulary and accurate collocations related to education and learning styles.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('it depend upon'), missing articles ('a English language'), and awkward phrasing ('find a help from formal classes'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction is often clunky. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. More attention to basic grammar rules and sentence variety is required.
