Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent year there are numerous students who choose to study english by them own rather than attend coaching. But, it is believe that without professional guidance, students might struggle to learn properly. In my opinion to a large extent i disagree with this view, my opinion explain below in detail.
One important reason behind this is in recent age and time there are lots of online sources available to learn english independently at any time, and with a teacher students need to spare separate time which may be sometime not adjustable in daily routine. This is because every students have to attend their school, university or tution classes in a day , however if they started giving time to do extra class of an english coaching there is no time left for them to do homework or extra work on their academic subject. Therefore they prefer to studyn from online sources so they can study any time and anywhere. For example, AI tools , english speaking apps, movies and podcast helps students to study and imporve their english while focusing on their education.
Another main reason is that students find it easier to study themselves with their own method, they feel motivated and confidence. In other words students make their own study plan daily and checklist for that which is easy to manage for them rather than follow teacher plan which sometimes not suitable for them, and students feel free and confident to speak english with ai tools, with online friends. For example, many students who may be feel under confident at the beginning of learning english, self-study plan is one of the best idea for them to boost the confidence, and they use different method such as record and check themselves in which area they need to improve.
In conclusion, it is believe that students need the assitance of a teacher to study english however i disagree because there are planty of online tools, apps and platoforms available for learning, and students can learn on their own time. secondly students find self-learining more convienient, they feel independent and motivated with self-study plan.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding flexibility and personal motivation are relevant and supported by examples such as AI tools and self-recording methods. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, and the response would benefit from more nuanced exploration of why a teacher's guidance might be considered necessary, rather than just focusing on the benefits of self-study. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One important reason,' 'Another main reason,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, providing a coherent overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'professional guidance,' 'academic subject,' and 'under confident.' However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'tution,' 'studyn,' 'imporve,' 'assitance,' 'planty,' 'platoforms,' 'convienient') and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'in recent age and time'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a limited range of vocabulary and a lack of precision in word choice, which restricts the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('every students have,' 'movies and podcast helps'), missing articles ('study english'), and incorrect verb forms ('it is believe'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the response from achieving a higher band. More attention to proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage is needed.
