Student answer (Band 6.0)

Rise in technology has made it easy for an individual to do self study. However, some students struggle to study English without the help of teacher. I strongly believe that assistance is crucial while students are studying. The reasons for this statement will be discussed below.

To commence with, students are more confident after they are being assisted by a teacher. There are numerous mistakes which the students make while they are leaning English. The children could feel nervous, if they are not been guided properly. As a result, the students would not be able to perform good in academics. For example, students communicate with their professor in English which also helps to improve their vocabulary. Furthermore, students have to not work hard. Whenever any student in class have any question they could directly resolve it with teacher. This would also save their time in class. For instance, if students have issue with grammar or sentence formation it could be easily understand with the help of teacher or other class students.

Studying in class helps to focus in a better way. Some students when trying to learn online or with the help of internet they easily distracted. Many of them start playing video games because of this students lose their interest in study. While, an individual who is studying in class concentrate on their work when the teacher is teaching them. For example, students make significant notes of topic which are later helpful for them in their final exam.

To conclude, I believe that tutor support is important which help students to improve their English. As teacher would guide their students whenever they need help and raise their confidence.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of teacher-led instruction. The ideas are relevant, focusing on confidence, immediate feedback, and classroom focus. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument about 'saving time' is not fully explained, and the example regarding 'significant notes' is a bit generic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific, detailed examples or logical reasoning. The conclusion is also quite brief and merely restates the introduction without adding a final thought or summary of the main arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences is disjointed, such as the transition from discussing nervousness to the example about communicating with a professor. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common, simple words like 'good', 'help', and 'work'. There are also some collocation errors, such as 'perform good in academics' (should be 'perform well') and 'make significant notes' (should be 'take detailed notes'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and language learning. Avoid repeating the same words frequently within the same paragraph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'students have to not work hard' (should be 'students do not have to work hard'), 'if they are not been guided' (should be 'if they are not being guided'), and 'it could be easily understand' (should be 'it could be easily understood'). Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent, such as 'any student in class have' (should be 'has'). Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for verb forms and passive voice will help improve your score.
