Student answer (Band 5.5)

The large amount of childrens want to study English alone on self study basis, but donot want to join a formal classes beacuse students didnot want the assistance of lecturar and often had difficulities to tackle thier education. I disagree with this because, studying alone is difficult process rather than if individuals take the assistance from teacher can able to understand and if the problem occurs you had the assistance of your sir to solve the particular problem.

On the one hand, huge amount of students choose English to study on their own it is mainly because, they trust their abilities and have courage to tackle the issues but they unable to handle problems. For instance I start practicing my self for ielts exam last month but unfortunately I failed. Now madam start preparation of English language and now I am capable to perform my ielts again.

On the other hand, alone we are not enough capable to study English so we always need guidence from our tutor to perform well. This is mainly because, if we goin a formal course difficulity level is less than studying alone and teacher often made the correction in our speaking and writing accent. For example, assistance of teacher is important to tackle the problems and easily understand the language.

In conclusion, in my view students must take the help from their teacher to perform well rather than handling the English independently. Teacher allocate a time period for studying voculabary and tip, tricks to improve spoken and written English.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against independent study. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you provide a personal example regarding IELTS preparation, the arguments remain somewhat repetitive and lack depth. To improve, you should expand on the specific benefits of formal instruction, such as the psychological benefits of a structured environment or the importance of peer interaction, rather than focusing solely on the teacher's role in correcting mistakes. The ideas are relevant but under-developed, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. There are issues with referencing; for instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'study', 'problem', and 'assistance'. There are also several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'lecturar' (lecturer), 'difficulities' (difficulties), 'guidence' (guidance), and 'voculabary' (vocabulary). These errors occasionally make the text difficult to read. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations, while ensuring accurate spelling and appropriate word usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('students... want', 'teacher... made'), incorrect verb tenses ('Now madam start'), and missing articles or prepositions. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, such as 'studying alone is difficult process rather than if individuals take the assistance'. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency.
