Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is limited and often lacks clarity. While you state your position, the supporting arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the mention of 'philosophers' in the history of English is vague and does not effectively support the argument for self-study. The counter-argument is acknowledged, but the rebuttal is weak and lacks specific evidence or logical depth. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-explained idea supported by concrete examples or logical reasoning rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'On the contrary', 'To conclude'), they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that feels mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the mentioned support'. The flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, which makes the logical connection between ideas difficult to follow. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring each sentence builds clearly on the previous one will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'modernization upbrings' and 'far more better' are non-standard and impede clarity. You attempt to use some academic vocabulary, but often misuse it, such as 'ascent' instead of 'accent' and 'week' instead of 'weak'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct context, rather than attempting to use complex words that you are not yet comfortable with.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('self study improve'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper syntax, such as 'The foremost argument they do is week student are actually find difficulty'. These errors are persistent and occasionally make it difficult for the reader to grasp the intended meaning. While there is an attempt at complex sentence structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense and pluralization will be essential for improvement.
