Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is considered that nowadays many students choose to learn English language himself and not enrolling themself in a proper course, which makes them hard to manage their learning without a experienced guidance. I totally agree with the statement because of formal course provide many benefits. such as structured material and help you learn consistently.

Firstly, The Formal course has covered a proper structure of the things that are need to learn on which stage. It help students to learn all the things properly, If student try to learn from online and from different places, so at first he needs a proper roadmap which is hard to find, on the other hand when student registered in a course he get a proper notes and a best steps to follow. for example, students get the notebook/guide book which has all the related information in a proper manner.

In addition to that, courses helps student to do practice on daily basis, when a student is registered in a course he has to attend the class and they also have to complete the assignments and quizzes which helps them to learning consistently, moreover, it also avoid distraction of other things because student is keep focusing to complete their task instead of finding a best resources, for instance, when student is learning alone it might learning from youtube videos which may distract him by watching different videos or spending time on different things.

To conclude, It has been luminous to stated that I am totally agree with the statement because there are many advantages to enroll in a course instead of self learning,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding structured learning and consistency are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of notebooks and the distraction of YouTube. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth in exploring the counter-argument or the nuances of self-study. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and lacks a summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your ideas with more sophisticated reasoning and ensure the conclusion effectively synthesizes your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'In addition to that', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'It has been luminous to stated that'. Additionally, some sentences are poorly linked, making the flow feel disjointed at times. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that your referencing (e.g., 'they', 'it') is always clear will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'things', 'proper', and 'best', which limits the sophistication of your argument. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'learn English language himself' (should be 'learn the English language by himself') and 'luminous to stated' (which is an incorrect usage). To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('formal course provide', 'courses helps student'), incorrect pronoun usage ('enrolling themself'), and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation is also problematic, with several run-on sentences and incorrect comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will be very beneficial.
