Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern era, many students prefer self-study instead of attending formal English courses. From my perspective without a teacher, students may find it difficult to manage their studies.
On the one hand side, there are many advantages of self study. First and perhaps most notable one is that, students can study whenever they have free time. To be more clear, nowadays many online platforms available on mobile or laptops. Another benefit is that self study is cost-effective and students can learn topic again and again own pace because many online resources like YouTube, apps, websites etc. practice tests available. Apart from that some students like to independent learning it help students to become responsible and disciplined.
On the other hand side, teachers play an important role in students life because students are not able to find own mistakes. During speaking pronunciation students not correct it own way but teachers able to correct mistake and help them on on time and help them to improve. Teachers explain proper study plan and also find the weakness of students. With the help of teacher students become more regular and have discipline because they have fear of teacher.
In conclude, in the view of above mentioned points, it is quite evident that self study is important because it help students to independent learning and cost effective. However, teacher play a significant role because they correct the mistakes and also give better advice.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, but the development is limited. While you present relevant points regarding flexibility and cost-effectiveness for self-study, and the role of teachers in error correction, the ideas are not fully extended. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the depth of your argument. To improve, you should provide more concrete examples or detailed explanations for your points. Your position is clear, but the lack of length and depth prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand side' and 'In conclude' to transition between ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical or grammatically incorrect (e.g., 'In conclude' should be 'In conclusion'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is more precise. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall flow is somewhat repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cost-effective', 'disciplined', and 'pronunciation'. However, there are instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'To be more clear' instead of 'To be clearer' and 'find own mistakes' instead of 'identify their own mistakes'. You rely on somewhat simple vocabulary, and there is a lack of less common lexical items. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow. Examples include 'many online platforms available' (missing verb 'are'), 'learn topic again and again own pace' (missing prepositions), and 'students not correct it own way'. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement limits your score. You should focus on proofreading for missing articles, prepositions, and verb forms.
