Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging the importance of teachers while also noting the benefits of self-study. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding the 'intellectual mind set' and the 'high price' of courses are mentioned but not sufficiently extended or supported with concrete examples. The position is clear, but the overall analysis lacks the depth required for a higher band. The essay tends to over-generalize, and the connection between the points could be more robustly linked to the prompt's central tension between independent learning and the need for professional guidance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'In the consequences' is non-standard and awkward. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'it also helps out the students in their work and built courage to them'. While there is an overall progression of ideas, the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical issues and awkward phrasing, which makes the text feel somewhat disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There is a reliance on basic or repetitive terms, such as 'problems in their study' and 'positive changes'. Some word choices are imprecise or non-idiomatic, such as 'tutioning' (tuition) and 'intellectual mind set'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and occasional errors in collocation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More sophisticated vocabulary related to education and pedagogy would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'English language which is...'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'built courage to them'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and some sentences are run-on or lack necessary clarity. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur with high frequency, which is a characteristic of the Band 5 level. More attention to basic sentence structure and proofreading is necessary.
