Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 157 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you introduce the topic and state a position, the essay is incomplete; it cuts off abruptly after the first paragraph of the body. Because the response is unfinished and lacks the necessary depth and length to fully address the prompt, it cannot be awarded a higher band. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full introduction, at least two well-developed body paragraphs with supporting examples, and a clear conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition words like 'Initially' and 'On the other hand'. However, the abrupt ending prevents a clear progression of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the second paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the flow of the argument. To improve, focus on ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence, supporting evidence, and a concluding thought. Using a wider variety of cohesive devices, such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast', would help connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'learning english' and 'teacher'. There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'structural course' instead of 'structured course' and 'master' instead of 'instructor' or 'tutor'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to education and language acquisition. Focus on using synonyms to avoid repetition and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'A massive ratio of students' (which is unnatural; 'A large number' is better), 'understand his rules' (referring to grammar as 'his'), and 'talking to them about their short comings' (which is slightly informal). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with missing commas after introductory phrases. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practice writing more complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions while ensuring they remain error-free.
