Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people who study English prefer to do it independently nowadays instead of attend a traditional course. There is an ongoing debate about whether the lack of a teacher could be detrimental to the learn process. I believe that while teachers overall play an important role, the learning depends exclusively on the student style.
One of the reasons why some people find studying English harder without a teacher is because self-study envolves hours spent on searching and preparation. With many different web-sites and books available, people can get confused and waste time looking into differents methods instead of actually study. A teacher, for example, usually have the class prepared for their students, where they can only go and do their activities without worry about finding the material. This can result in more time spent on the gain of a new language skill, as well as the extra support given by the teacher.
However, I believe that the learn system would depend on the student style and skills. Some people find more confortable to self-study as they can choose the topic they would like to learn, as well as the time available. An introverted person might find it harder to connect with an instructor, for instance. This person could use artificial intelligent to correct their mistakes, instead of using a proper teacher. If the student have self-management habilities, they can have the same results as a formal course.
To conclude, I believe the necessity of a teacher or a tradicional English couse will depend exclusively on the student preferences, and their habilit to self-manage their own time. As well as the use of artificial intelligence can potentially substitute the need of a educator.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You acknowledge the difficulties of self-study while arguing that success depends on the individual's learning style. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the mention of artificial intelligence as a modern alternative to traditional instruction. However, some points could be further extended; for instance, the discussion on 'self-management' is a strong point that could benefit from a more concrete example of how such skills translate into effective language acquisition. Overall, the response is balanced and directly answers the 'to what extent' question.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as the challenges of self-study versus the benefits of individual learning styles. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the reasons,' 'However,' and 'To conclude,' which help guide the reader. While the progression is clear, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more varied to improve the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, contributing to the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'detrimental,' 'introverted,' and 'self-management.' There are some instances of word-choice errors or non-standard collocations, such as 'learn process' (learning process), 'gain of a new language skill' (acquisition of language skills), and 'tradicional English couse' (spelling error). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precision in word formation and collocation. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary in a natural, error-free manner.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a teacher... usually have,' 'the student have') and word forms (e.g., 'differents methods,' 'more confortable'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The errors are noticeable but rarely impede the reader's understanding of your argument. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical consistency, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that adjectives and nouns are used correctly.
