A huge number of students choose to study English independently on a self- study basis rather than attend a formal course. However, without the assistance of a teacher, students often find it difficult to manage their studies.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that majority of students opt for learning English without any institution or tutor. While it is challenging to manage studies without any mentor, I firmly believe that assistance is crucial to acheive goals and learning because it can give footstep to fallow to get target and it is helpful to get rid of time wastage on simple concepts.

The primary reason why I agree with this view is that a teacher has experince of years, this experience is helpful for learner to fallow a planned roadmap according to subject. Additionally, tricks and guesses regarding a particular topic often make it easier. For example, A person who studied English as a major subject is more competent to explain about grammer rules rather than other who only rely on reading book without understanding. Therefore, it is more practical approach toward studying from an expert alon with a specified course in term of roadmap.

Another significant reason is that reading the theory without practical is not worthy because just go throw from the passage is just waste of time and energy. Things becomes more difficult and often it results in a false concept whic is dangerous. A good example of it seen in crab cycle a very important topic in biology. If a student only get through the passage again and again but the basis of cycle remain vagus. Consequently time and energy both wasted and learner would frustrated which demostrates the importance of tutor.

In conclusion, although learning indepandently is more reluctant and peaceful, I strongly believe that having a leader and framework gives potential ideas about subject and better understanding to cope up confusing topics

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student addresses all parts of the task, taking a clear stance that learning English with a teacher or formal course is superior and necessary. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas suffers from a lack of clarity and some confusion in examples, such as the sudden pivot to a biology topic (the Krebs cycle) in the third paragraph, which is somewhat irrelevant to learning English. While the central arguments regarding roadmap planning and avoiding wasted time are valid, they are somewhat under-developed due to restricted vocabulary and expression. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 5.5 descriptors, where the task is addressed but some ideas are poorly supported or wandering.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, showing an attempt at logical organization. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing references. For instance, the transition in the second paragraph ('A person who studied English as a major subject is more competent to explain about grammer rules rather than other who...') is clumsy. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inaccurate ('The primary reason why I agree...', 'In conclusion, although learning indepandently is more reluctant...'). Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks seamless flow. The overall structure earns a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited range of vocabulary, with frequent errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation that occasionally impede communication. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'acheive' (achieve), 'fallow' (follow), 'grammer' (grammar), 'alon' (along), 'whic' (which), 'vagus' (vague), and 'indepandently' (independently). The student attempts some less common phrasing like 'planned roadmap' and 'false concept', but control over word formation and spelling is weak. This sits firmly at Band 5.0, where noticeable errors cause some difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak throughout the essay. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and clause structures, such as 'majority of students' (missing the article 'the'), 'rather than other who only rely' (should be 'others'), and 'learner would frustrated' (missing the auxiliary 'be'). Punctuation is also erratic with stray spacing issues. Because errors are frequent and occasionally obscure the exact meaning of complex sentences, the response warrants a Band 5.0.
