Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both sides of independent versus teacher-led study and clearly stating a partial position ('I partailly agree with this statement'). Main ideas are presented, such as the benefits of structured teacher guidance and the flexibility of self-study, and they are supported with examples like IELTS preparation and YouTube videos. However, the development is somewhat limited and repetitive in places, particularly in the body paragraphs where ideas are restated rather than deeply extended. The conclusion summarises the main stance effectively. Overall, the response meets the requirements for Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall logical arrangement. The student attempts to use cohesive devices to signal progression, such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'Moving further ahead'. However, cohesion is often faulty or mechanical, and spacing punctuation errors around commas are frequent. Referencing and paragraph transitions can be repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'Secondly'. Paragraphing is present and logically separates the arguments regarding teachers versus self-study, placing the response at a Band 6 level for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'independently', 'flexible', and 'conveninet', but lexical control is weak. There are numerous word choice, spelling, and morphological errors throughout the text, including 'resident' instead of 'residents', 'teacheres' instead of 'teachers', 'advanteges' instead of 'advantages', 'spead' instead of 'speed', and 'conveninet' instead of 'convenient'. Furthermore, the student incorrectly uses 'Self- care' when referring to self-study. Although the vocabulary is adequate to convey the general message, these persistent errors restrict the score to a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and subordinate clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is very weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. Examples include 'a big amount of students choose to degree in english subject', 'it find difficults to manage study', 'student can learn in proper and organised way', and 'he do not understand the proper their grammer mistake'. Punctuation is also poorly handled, with spaces appearing before commas throughout. Because errors are frequent and often cause some difficulty for the reader, a Band 5 is appropriate.
