Student answer (Band 4.5)

Large number of students choose to study english on their efforts self- independently without help of course. I fully disagree with this statement because without route you can not achieve destination, however; without the assistance of a teacher ,student face many difficulties to their study.

On major reason, is that formal course gives basic to advance level of knowledge of english that can student cannot cover smallest thing with self-study. Course have step by step planning like fist they take noun , adjective , verb after that sentence building and next to tens and etc that flow of this can student not get with self study . Some student feel that they studied english from class 2 they can do independently but they thought wrong.

One other reason, that without help of teacher student face many difficulty to solve problem independently they are searching many books and take more time that can solve in minutes. Some times student feel demotivate and in depreciation but with teacher they can build with confidently , independently study student have lack of confidence .Also teacher encourage student with comparison also gives a write route to achieve high results.

In conclusion, student learn english independently face many problems like lack of basic knowledge and not can follow in flow of study some time they feel lack of confidence ,however ; With help of course and teacher they can achieve good result .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by expressing a clear position of total disagreement with independent study, though the development is quite limited. The text fails to reach the 250-word minimum, containing only 237 words, which negatively impacts task achievement under official guidelines. While the student identifies valid reasons such as the structured progression of a formal course and the psychological support of a teacher, the ideas are underdeveloped and rely heavily on generalisations and repetitive points. To improve, the student needs to expand their arguments with specific examples, ensure full development of each body paragraph, and meet the required word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into four paragraphs with a clear introduction and conclusion, giving it an overall structure. However, coherence is heavily hindered by mechanical and faulty cohesive devices, such as the incorrect use of semicolons and conjunctions like 'however;' and 'On major reason, is that'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the progression of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed due to run-on sentences and unclear referencing. Pronoun referencing is occasionally confusing, and transitions between ideas lack smoothness, resulting in a somewhat disjointed reading experience.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and restricted. Phrases like 'study english on their efforts self-independently' and 'smallest thing with self-study' demonstrate a very limited range and awkward word choice. There are numerous lexical and collocational errors throughout the essay, such as 'depreciation' instead of 'depression', and 'write route' instead of 'right route'. The lexical resource is minimally adequate for communication, but frequent errors in word formation and collocation constrain the clarity of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical structure is heavily flawed, dominated by frequent and systematic errors. The response contains numerous fragment sentences, run-on sentences, and basic grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'that can student cannot cover', 'Course have step by step planning', and 'student learn english independently face many problems'. There is very little control over complex sentence forms, and punctuation errors are pervasive throughout the text. These frequent errors frequently impede understanding and strain the reader.
