IELTS Writing Task 2 question

A huge number of students choose to study English independently on a self- study basis rather than attend a formal course. However, without the assistance of a teacher, students often find it difficult to manage their studies.

To what extent do you agree or disagree ?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, a lot of pupils choose to study English independently via self-study instead of attending a formal course but students often find it hard to manage their studies without the guidance of a instructer. Although English is a subject which people learn more quickly by speaking it in daily life and by reading english newspapers, I partially agree with this statement because teacher will help him in his queries related to subject and suggest methods to learn effieciently.

On the one hand, the major reason of studying English through self study is people learn it more quickly by speaking in daily life. To elaborate, student who is trying to speak English in his/her everyday life they will became not only more fluent, but also pronounce words more accurately. In addition, pupil can learn about sentance structure and grammer from reading. For example, if a student reading a newspaper daily, he/she will learn new structures and strategies of writing English by looking and reading them.

On the other hand, i contend that there are several difficulties to manage self study without teacher. The prime one is instructer will solve his/her queries related to study. For example, pupil who is not learning from any teacher will face queries about grammer and structure of English and without a guidance from teacher it is impossible to solve those queries by ourselves. Secondly, teacher will evaluate his/her learning capacity and help to make schedule of study which will be great for him. For instance, a student who study english was good in learning grammer but lacking in pronounciatation of words, So, teacher will identify it and guide him to that resolution which will improve her pronounciation.

In conclusion, despite students can study English by themselves using different methods, I restate that, i partially agree with this trend because guidance from teacher is also important to help in queries and learn more effieciant methods of study.
