IELTS Writing Task 2 question

A huge number of students choose to study English independently on a self- study basis rather than attend a formal course. However, without the assistance of a teacher, students often find it difficult to manage their studies.

To what extent do you agree or disagree ?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

A significant proportion of language learners prefer independent study over formal classroom instruction, although navigating the coursework without professional guidance often presents considerable challenges. In my view, while autonomous learning offers unmatched flexibility, the drawbacks of lacking structured feedback and discipline significantly outweigh the benefits

The primary obstacle associated with autonomous learning is the absence of expert feedback,which often leads to unwanter error. Without an instructor learners generally internalize pronounciation error which becomes difficult to unlearn later. Furthermore, without regular class deadlines and accountability autonomous learners struggle to maintain consistency. For instance, many self learners delivers inconsistent and unconventional structures which shows linguistic weakness. Consequntly, operating without any professional make it hard to continue in the long run.

To overcome these structural hurdles, self learners must establish self monitoring framework supplemented by contemporary technology. Additionally, self learners can bridge the gap by using digital platforms that can suggest based on algorithm. A self learner can arrange speaking sessions with native speakers using digital platforms like Omegle TV and other renowned and effective medium to correct their structure without taking help officially from any professionals.Implementing these steps mitigate the lack they simply have preserving their learning autonomy.

In conclusion,while independent language learners offers remarkable freedom of pace but it lacks the coherent and accountabiliy necessary for languastic mastery. I maintain that formal learning with professionals allows one to get expert feedback on learning. It is by far the most effective route to achieve linguistic mastery. It ensures route to achieve high level proficiency.
