Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that disagrees with the idea that students cannot manage independent study without a teacher. Main ideas are introduced, such as the utility of the internet, dictionaries, and AI tools, but some of these points are under-developed or lack full elaboration. For example, while the writer mentions personal experience with classroom distraction and the benefits of a quiet environment, the explanation remains somewhat limited. The ideas are relevant to the prompt, yet the overall development could be extended further to fully explore the nuances of self-directed learning versus formal instruction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible beginning, middle, and conclusion, allowing the reader to follow the writer's stance. Paragraphing is utilized to separate the introduction, body arguments, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in transitions like 'Because, it helps user' and repetitive use of connectors like 'So'. Referencing is not always entirely clear, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs occasionally stumbles, preventing a smoother flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'independent', 'distraction', and 'environment'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'english subjects', 'attend in formal course', 'advance technology', and 'peacful ang quite'. Furthermore, spelling and word formation errors, such as 'exmple', 'consentrate', 'beacause', 'donot', and 'ore', appear throughout the text. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as conditional and subordinate clauses introduced by 'Due to' or 'if'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occur across simple and complex structures alike. Examples include missing or incorrect articles ('a large number', 'an easy subject'), subject-verb agreement issues ('student can learn', 'student often find'), and prepositional errors ('study alone without the help of teacher'). Punctuation slips, such as unnecessary commas before conjunctions, also persist throughout the writing, aligning with the expected profile.
