Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is commonly seen in the students that instead of attending a professional course they choose to study by themselves. While, many contend about this trend that without the assistance of a tutor or a guide, it becomes hard for students to maintain their studies. However, the modern technology and online facilities makes self-study much easier, I believe it would be beneficial to use sources combined with a formal course rather than persuing fully self-study.
The most compelling reason why students tend to have self-study rather than attending class is time saving. With modern technology and online educational resources, individual can learn every single aspect of subject by themselve without needing physical lectures. Specially in English, the range of available resources such as, mobile applications, websites and e-books, one can practice more than sufiicient to have proficiency in english. As a result, it seems convinient decision to learn independently without attending a formal course, which eventually saves time and money both.
Onthe other side, a professional course will make more impact than self-study as it requires punctuality, consistancy and descipline. A student under the proper guidence and compitative environment is more likely to achieve good results. However, it would become zero, if individual is not self practicing after the coaching hours. So that, English learning can be efficient if a student would able to combine self-study with the proper assistance of tutor.
By the way of conclusion, I firmly agree with the point that without the help from a teacher, it is difficult to manage english study but I suggest, self-study could be more effective if merge with formal course, as it makes learning more powerfull.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position regarding the blend of self-study and formal courses. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the time-saving benefits of online technology and the importance of discipline provided by tutors. However, some ideas are underdeveloped or lack full extension. For instance, the discussion on how modern technology replaces physical lectures is presented generally without specific examples. The progression of thought is visible, but deeper exploration of why independent study specifically struggles with management would strengthen the response and elevate it further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay maintains a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs addressing different perspectives, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'The most compelling reason' and 'Onthe other side', though some referencing and mechanical linking are slightly awkward or faulty, as seen in 'So that, English learning can be efficient'. Paragraphs logically separate the advantages of independent learning from the benefits of professional courses, but smoother inter-sentence connections and clearer referencing would enhance the overall flow and progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'compelling reason', 'professional course', and 'proficient'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, including 'persuing' instead of pursuing, 'sufiicient' instead of sufficient, 'convinient' instead of convenient, 'consistancy' instead of consistency, 'descipline' instead of discipline, and 'guidence' instead of guidance. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect limitations in lexical control that prevent a higher evaluation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('with proper assistance of tutor'), incorrect prepositions or prepositional phrases ('tend to have self-study', 'by the way of conclusion'), and awkward phrasing ('individual can learn every single aspect of subject by themselve'). While these errors occur regularly throughout the text, they rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the main arguments without significant difficulty.
