Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, it become quite common that individuals prefer to learn english independently on a self-studey basis rather than attending a formal and traditional english course. But in reality, without techer help and assistance, individuals often find it difficult to manage their study and understanding english course, from my personal point of view i definitely agree with this view as without a peer pressure it is really difficult to learn any kind of things.

One of the main reason regarding teacher asssistance is that teacher provide a mental support to every student, who is trying to learn any kind of language, as it is really helpful for childern that their doubt can be clear in real time instead of waiting or searching different resources in internet. Moreover, teacher presence does not only motivate children to study harder, but it also helps them to achieve higher marks.

Furthermore, students who does not have capacity to purchase digital gadgets like laptops, smartphones or computers and individuals who are not financially strong enough to purchase or to get a access to internet does not able to learn efficiently, as in this position teacher works as their primary source of Information from which they can learn different learning tips and skills which will directly help them to learn english easily. Hence, children whose native or first language is not english, they often find it quite difficult to learn it single handlely. Therfore in this particular kind of scenario teachers play as a role of translator and guide them to learn english easily.

In conclusion, with the help of technological advancement, english learning become quite easy, but still the role of teacher guidance is not replaceable and it is till important as it was before.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and presents a clear position throughout, agreeing with the statement that self-studying English without a teacher is difficult. The main ideas, such as the value of real-time doubt clarification, emotional support, and the role of teachers as translators for those with limited access to digital resources, are relevant to the task. However, some ideas are left partially under-developed. For instance, the point regarding digital inequality touches on financial barriers, but the link to how a teacher specifically compensates for a lack of gadgets requires further expansion. To reach the next level, the ideas would need to be more fully extended with richer explanations and more specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and a concluding summary at the end. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct arguments, such as the psychological benefits of teachers and their role in supporting students facing technological constraints. However, cohesion sometimes feels mechanical or repetitive, particularly in how sentences are linked using basic cohesive devices like 'moreover', 'furthermore', and 'hence'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use referring back to abstract concepts. To progress, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common items and subject-related terms such as 'independent', 'assistance', and 'technological advancement'. However, the range is limited and the text contains noticeable lexical errors in word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'english' instead of 'English', 'self-studey', 'techer', 'childern', 'single handlely', and 'Therfore'. These errors reflect a restricted control over word formation and spelling. While communication is not severely impaired, the recurring inaccuracies and lack of precision prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capacity to construct multi-clause sentences, such as in the opening and concluding paragraphs. However, the grammatical range is limited, and attempts at complex structures frequently contain errors. There are noticeable issues with subject-verb agreement and verb forms, including 'it become quite common', 'teacher provide', 'student, who is trying', 'children whose native or first language is not english, they often find', and 'learning become quite easy'. Punctuation is also erratic in places, missing spaces after commas and periods. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally decode the meaning, characteristic of this level.
